Putting together a great parenting site needs solid hosting

You might think you’re a great parent. You may be an amazing listener. You may have raised amazing kids.

There are many reasons why a lot of parents think that they’re doing a good job. In fact, there are a million and one reasons why you think you have raised amazing children. Everybody’s entitled to their opinion.

Maybe you did raise amazing adults. Maybe all of this is in your mind. Maybe this is just a reflection of your ego. Perhaps you’re even projecting. It may well turn out that you’re a lousy parent.

But the more you brag to yourself that you raised good kids, it makes the pain of disappointment go away. Self deception, after all, has always been one of the best ways to numb the pain one feels when, deep down inside, they know that they failed.

There’s no shame in that game. Everybody plays that game at some level or another. Whatever the particular situation may be, it’s one thing to think you’re an amazing parent, it’s another to try to teach specific parenting skills to others.

If you’re ready to make this commitment, please understand that it is a commitment. Not only do you have to have the right information, but you have to present it in such a way that people can benefit from it. This is not always easy. This is not always obvious.

You have to understand that a lot of teachers out there make it look easy. That’s right. It just seems easy because it’s like water flowing off the back of a duck to them. They make it look so smooth, seamless and effortless.

But real teaching doesn’t involve any of that. It’s very hard. In many cases, you have to ask hard questions of yourself. And in many cases, you have to become a bigger and better person for you to even teach at a very low level.

If you are ready to make that transition from parent to teacher, then you need to have the right platform. I suggest WordPress.

WordPress is an amazing content management system because you can easily put up content with very minimal effort. It also doesn’t take a rocket scientist to install WordPress on a server. You just need to get a domain name, and you need to get your hands on WordPress, which is absolutely free.

Of course, you need a hosting company. You need to have some sort of hosting service for your website to be visible to people from all over the world. This is where people slip up and screw up.

You see, hosting services are not created equal. Not by a long shot. Some companies are truly legit. These companies really make sure that your website will be visible to anybody looking to access it. In fact, they bend over backwards to make sure that you get maximum visibility.

Other companies couldn’t care less. Once you have paid them for the year, they’re good as gone. Regardless of how many times you complain, regardless of how many times your website crashes and makes a fool out of you, they couldn’t care less. The only thing that they will listen to you is when the money stops.

You don’t want to deal with those types of companies. You don’t want to get burned. You don’t want to end up with an empty bag. This is why putting together a great parenting site is harder than you think.

You need solid hosting. Unfortunately, there are so many hosting options out there that it’s really hard to make heads or tails of all the options available to you. It’s so easy to make a mistake. It’s so easy to just go with reputation and end up screwing yourself over and over again.

How do make heads or tails of all the hosting sites out there so you can truly launch an amazing parenting site? One way to do this is through the comparison approach.

That’s right. Look at a review and then break it apart and see the considerations they used. By using those criteria, you position yourself  in making a truly informed choice.

Tell apart great hosts from worthless ones by analyzing our Bluehost review. This review operates on some sort of blueprint or framework. We laid out the different considerations you should keep in mind. This way, you can line them up with your actual needs and specific circumstances to direct you to where you need to go.

You don’t necessarily have to pick Bluehost, but this review really spells out how you should go about your decision.

I Fight Hard can give you ideas on how to teach your kids self defense

Kids must be taught how to defend themselves. They have to do it themselves. They cannot rely on other people. They cannot rely on adults being around.

It’s not like they have some sort of drone watching them on a 24/7, 365-day basis. It’s not like this drone would send a signal to a central office and armed or response or care providers will show up at the right time to produce the right results. Life doesn’t work that way.

Life is very dangerous, it’s very uncertain, it definitely is very chaotic. Accordingly, if you want to be a great parent, regardless of where your kids are, regardless of how old they become, and regardless of the situation they find themselves in, you have to teach them to be a little bit dangerous.

I know this is not popular. The sense of danger or menace scares a lot of people. They think that just because you have an element of danger to you that you somehow, some way, have become an evil person.

People don’t want to have anything to do with you because you have the capacity to harm others. And that’s precisely what is so awesome about being dangerous. Because you have a means of changing your world in a profound way that leads to you being protected.

Let’s put it this way, if people knew that they can beat you every single time, what do you think will happen? They know the outcome ahead of time. They know that they don’t have to put in much effort. You will fold like a house of cards. You would be doing this all day, every day.

What kind of people will you be inviting into your life? What kind of situations do you think you’ll find yourself in?

As a parent, I find this very troublesome. I would not want my kid to find himself in this situation. This is why you need to teach your kid self defense.

The great thing about mixed martial arts blogs like I Fight Hard and other resources is that they step kids through self defense.

You don’t have to be some sort of judo, karate, taekwondo or other martial art genius to use these websites. You don’t have to have previous experience with jiujitsu, for example. Instead, you just go through the tutorials, pay attention to the pictures, and you have enough information to defend yourself.

A lot of this information is very basic. A lot of this really just involves paying attention to what the other person is doing and dancing with your opponent, so to speak. In other words, you move your body in accordance to what they’re doing so you can produce the right outcome at the right time. This is not rocket science.

A lot of mixed martial arts out there as well as traditional martial arts really are just variations of bodies dancing with each other. It’s all about bodies interacting to create an outcome based on probabilities and based on past patterns.

So do yourself a big favor, head on over to I Fight Hard, get all the information that you need, and teach your kids self defense nowadays.

You don’t have to be a hero. They don’t have to overdo it. They don’t have to be the next Bruce Lee, but they just have to know enough so that when a bully appears, they know how to take care of business instead of turning around, crying, and begging and pleading for mommy and daddy.

Life is harsh, and unfortunately, mommy and daddy are not always around the corner. Mommy and daddy cannot show up at the right time and at the right place to bail people out.

Unfortunately, if you teach your kids to think this way, you are doing them a big disservice. You’re making them weak, you’re making them vulnerable, and it’s not a surprise if they turn out to be very fragile people. Don’t do that.

Read about Merkem if you have bed bugs in your family home

The first time I visited my uncle Al’s place, he was on his bed and he wasn’t looking all that well. He was bed ridden and very sick. He was 86 years old and boy can you smell his age. I don’t mean this to be disrespectful or to diminish the memory of my precious, loving uncle Al, but the truth is the truth.

It didn’t help things that he had furniture in his bedroom that he did not properly maintain. I understand he was 86 years old. How much can you expect from a person of such advanced age. I get that. But his son should have taken care of him and this is where the problem is. If you have any kind of hygiene issues in your family home, please understand that it’s the product of bad decisions.

Maybe people are lazy. Maybe they think that the problem will just take care of itself. Maybe they believe that somehow, someway, things will fall into place and they don’t have to worry about the consequences of their actions in the here and now.

Whatever the situation may be, it does have an impact and a tremendous effect on not only the things that you can smell and see and touch, but it can also negatively impact your health. There are many ways to bring the message home, but let me stick to 2 simple yet effective examples: cockroaches and bed bugs.

Now if there was ever a match in insect hell, it would have to be cockroaches and bed bugs because they’re disgusting. Cockroaches are pretty much the target of everybody’s revulsion. I have yet to meet a person, and I’m talking about a real life person, not some sort of Facebook personality, who actually loves cockroaches.

I can understand why most people hate cockroaches because they’re filthy. They bring all sorts of germs, disease. Also, if you’ve ever been bitten by a cockroach, it is not pleasant. It’s very itchy and if you are living in a very unhygienic area where you’re exposed to all sorts of contaminated water, it can even be down right life threatening. That’s how crazy it could be.

Do yourself a big favor. If you have bed bugs in your family home, contact Merkem immediately. They are a Canadian online resource and service provider dedicated to eliminating bed bugs. That’s their company mission. You can rest assured that when you visit the Merkem official website, you will get all the information you need to make the right decision as far as your bed bug extermination needs are concerned. It really all boils down to finding the right information, targeting the right problems so you can produce the right results.

This is not rocket science, folks. This is all about proper decision making and being the man of the family, you have to make the call. Thankfully, Merkem has made making the right call so much easier. They have presented all the information in a very easy to understand format. You don’t need to be some sort of Albert Einstein to figure everything out.

Give their service a shot. You’d be surprised as to how quickly your family’s bed bug infestation can be handled.

Hypervibe machines can lead to more employment opportunities for family members

It never fails. Whenever you meet with family members, there’s always one person who doesn’t have a job. This should not be a surprise because families, after all, are a microcosm of the larger society. You have to understand that the 80/20 rule always applies.

I know that this is an interesting fact if we’re talking about fairly harmless stuff like sports. People like Michael Jordan, they are the top 20% of NBA players that account for 80% of the scores of their teams.  All NBA teams are like that. There are only 20% of players that account for 80% of the results. Productivity consultants know this inside and out. They know that only 20% of a workforce is responsible for 80% of the profits, productivity and other positive indicators of a particular company, team or organization.

Now this applies to families as well. This is where people get touchy. This is where people get sensitive all of a sudden. In any family, there will always be out and out achievers. These are people who are lawyers, doctors, business consultants, engineers, architects, you name it. These are people who are movers and shakers. They make a tremendous amount of money and guess what? They account for 80% of their family’s net worth.

Now what happens to the 80% that accounts for 20% of results? This is where things get uncomfortable. It’s easy to look at successful people and just dismiss the success that they have achieved to luck. Somehow, someway, they were at the right place at the right time doing the right things to impress the right people so they can produce the right outcomes.

Now if you believe this, then I have a bride if Brooklyn to sell you. Success is not an accident. Deep down inside, you probably know this. But unfortunately, if you are like the typical human being, you will bend over backwards to come up with excuse after excuse after justification after finger pointing to get out from under the conclusion you should arrive at. What is this conclusion? Your life is your choice.

The kind of lives we live are a collection of our choices. I know it sounds harsh because who would want to choose a life of struggle? Who would want to choose a life of unemployment? But the problem is unless and until you make the right choices, the consequences of your past choices, as bad as they may be, will continue to haunt you.

You have to understand that your life is the effect and your decisions are the cause. What you did yesterday impacts what’s happening now. So if you want a better tomorrow, start making better decisions now and one of the best decisions you could ever do is to invest in training for Hypervibe machines.

These machines are very big right now. There’s a tremendous amount of demand for them. Not surprisingly, there’s a huge employment potential here. Whether you live in Alabama, New York, California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, it doesn’t matter. If you have the right skills, jobs come to you, not the other way around.

I know that sounds revolutionary, but it’s just common sense. Your life is the best investment you could ever make. Start being more methodical and systematic about it. Start making better choices so your tomorrow will be brighter than today. I know it sounds simple and straightforward, but it really is. Because if you look at the most successful people in your family, they’re not geniuses, they’re not rocket scientists, they’re not brain surgeons, they just knew how to make the right decisions.

The good news is if they can do that, you can do it too. Whatever they can do, you can do as well. So do yourself a big favor. Look into hypervibe machines and get going. If you want a better life, if you want to drive a bigger car, if you want to live in a bigger house in a richer neighborhood, you have to start making the right decisions now.

There’s nobody to blame. The world doesn’t owe you anything. Stop believing in excuses because excuses don’t put food on the table. Your kids can’t eat excuses. You know what they can profit from? Good actions. Take the right actions today and you will build the right future.

Get contour light treatment to look your very best at your next family reunion

I’m going to be completely honest with you with this blog post. I hate family reunions. Now don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I dislike seeing cousins, uncles or distant relatives. I love seeing those people because being the typical American family, we’re located all over the world. Some people are in South East Asia, other people are in Northern parts of Asia like Japan and Korea, others are in Eastern or Western Europe.

It’s really amazing. It’s kind of like an anthropological journey because you can see that one family has sent many different members to all parts of the world and as the family gets bigger and bigger with the addition of new cousins, second cousins, cousins third removed, they cover more of the map. And believe me. My family is not an exception.

A lot of American families are like this. In fact, my buddy who is originally from the Philippines has family members on all continents. Yes. Even Africa. He has a lot of family members in the middle east working primarily in Kuwait, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. He has cousins in Northern Africa, mainly Egypt, Tunisia and Libya. He also has family members from Eastern Europe working in Russia and the Czech republic. Western Europe actually has a lot of his family members because a lot of cousins and uncles and aunts live in Spain and London. And don’t even get me started about the US. The official total population of Filipinos in the US is a far cry from the real numbers.

I shared this with you because family reunions can be a lot of fun. You can see people speaking many different languages. You can see people from all sorts of educational background. You can see individuals with high net worth and people who are barely keeping body and soul together. This is all well and good, but the problem is cosmetic.

If you’re not in shape, if you look like you’re very haggard and old, those family reunion pictures can be murder on your self esteem. I found this out in the worst way possible when it turned out that some of my cousins are male models from Brazil. What do you think that family photo looked like? You don’t want to be the ugly duckling.

Do yourself a big favor. Instead of thinking hard about skipping your next family reunion, come prepared instead. By undergoing contour light treatment, your skin will look its very best. Now this doesn’t absolve you of the responsibility of getting on a treadmill and losing that spare tire around your mid section. However, great skin counts for a lot.

Just like with straight, well set teeth, your skin can really change people’s impression of you. So do yourself a big favor. Sign up for contour light treatment and you’d be surprised as to the power great skin has in making an awesome first impression.

If you have a scrapbook or blog for your family, use avopix free photos

If you’re a family blogger, you probably already know that most people could not be bothered with your blog post. There. I said it. It’s unpleasant. It turns off a lot of people. In fact, a lot of people would probably feel discouraged or even depressed. But this is the absolute truth.

How many times have you gone on Facebook and you’ve seen updates for family members but you completely scan through them? In fact, you kept scrolling so quickly you didn’t even fully read the description. That’s the kind of impact most family blog posts have on even friends and family members.

I know that sounds harsh, but that’s the kind of reality check you need to wrap your mind around so you can stay away from sloppy blogging. Believe it or not, even if you keep a scrapbook with lots of great memories or your blog in a systematic and methodical way, a lot of that is going to fall between the cracks. Why?

People can’t be bothered because thanks to the internet, people have a short attention span. If you don’t believe me, the next time you get on Facebook, pay attention to what you’re doing. Chances are you’re scrolling really fast and scanning for words. You’re not really reading, looking for context or looking for a wide range of ideas. Instead, you’re just scrolling really fast because you feel at the back of your head that you really don’t have the time.

Believe me, most people don’t have the luxury of time. That’s why they develop this coping mechanism. We are caught in this weird situation where social media platforms output a tremendous amount of data, but people don’t have that much time. In fact, their time horizon to engage that kind of activity shrinks.

If you’re like the typical American, you have all sorts of duties, responsibilities and obligations. There’s not enough hours in a typical day. Not surprisingly, your blog posts are often the targets of sympathy engagement. I think you know what I’m talking about. These are like when people didn’t even read. These are reactions when people didn’t bother to actually check the context on the overall setting of your post. They do this even though they didn’t really consume your content because they don’t want you to feel bad. So they give you some sort of token or mercy engagement. These are worthless.

If you want real engagement, you need to step up, roll up your sleeves and take matters into your own hands. You need to use pictures. Hold on a moment. You’re probably thinking that if you use stock pictures, you’re going to spend a lot of money. Not necessarily. If you use avopix free photos, you get royalty free photos that capture a wide range of emotions, thoughts and sentiments without having to spend an arm and a leg.

I know that sounds crazy because you are getting a high quality product for a little amount of money. But it’s absolutely true. In fact, with avopix free photos, you don’t have to spend any money at all. And the best part is this is a website that is so much better than the typical free stock photo sites. If you’ve ever gone to those websites, it seems like a lot of images were from the 1990’s. We’re talking about 20 year old images. They look out of place, weird and they don’t make your blog post look good.

Your blog post might still get a lot of attention, but for all the wrong reasons. Do yourself a big favor. Take your family blogging content quality to a whole other level by investing some time, effort and energy looking through avopix free photos. These photos can go a long way in making your family blog post look their very best.

Localgrapher makes family bonding moments more memorable

I don’t want to start this blog post on a depressing note. But let’s be clear. We’re not going to be on this earth forever. If you’re lucky, you’re going to be living maybe 85 years and that is a big definite maybe. Until and unless there’s some sort of bio technology breakthrough, chances are most people are not going to live past the ago of 120 years old.

Now this might seem like it’s all positive. This might seem like there’s a lot to look forward to in the future, but think again. You have to understand that after you get past the age of 90, there are lots of financial issues that you need to take care of. There are lots of advanced planning and asset management issues you need to focus on.

Unless you have some sort of amazing foreign knowledge of how you will do after the age of 80, chances are you have a high likelihood of spending your golden years in abject poverty. I know this sounds really depressing, but it really is a wake up call because a lot of people think that they can live forever. That’s why they live careless lives. You have to remember this simple truth. Death and the certainty of death are what gives life meaning.

The fact that the party will end should light a fire under your butt. It should basically push you to make the most of every moment and believe me, your family should be everything to you. I understand that you have a career to take care of. I understand you have duties, obligation and responsibilities. Most people can see that. They’re not blind.

But the problem is when you die, you probably would not wish you worked an extra day at the office. You probably would not wish that you had that promotion or pay raise. You know what you would wish for? You would wish that you hugged your babies tighter. You probably wish you spent more time with your kids as they played baseball or basketball. You probably wish that you spent more time teaching your kids how to read or read them a story before they went to sleep at night. You probably wish that you went to their high school games and encouraged them and cheered them on even if their team is losing. You understand where I’m coming from?

This is the real stuff of life because money can’t be taken to the grave. That has yet to happen. Respect? That goes away. Status? Don’t even get me started on status. It’s temporary. What really matters is character because that’s what we bring to the grave with us.

We all start out as babies, but when we die, that’s the moment of truth. What kind of life did you make for yourself. Are you a person that kept your word? Are you a person who learned to love others and taught people how to love? Are you the type of person who made the world better? Or are you just the type of person that’s just like everybody else?

Well, I’m sorry to report this, but fathers who are takers are worthless fathers. They don’t make memories. Instead, they demand. They’re hypocrites. They feel that respect is somehow, someway automatic.

It is no surprise that a lot of young sons hate their fathers. In their hearts, they don’t want to  become their fathers because they see the hypocrisy. They see the anger. They see the frustration and it really is too bad because if you were to invest only in love, your family would be so much stronger. And most importantly, you would be able to contribute to humanity. The world needs more love.

I know I sound like a hippie. I know it sounds like some discount version of John Lennon, but it’s absolutely true. Imagine a better world where people loved each other and the good news here is your family bonding moments give you that opportunity.

You have to remember that there is such a thing as quality time. It doesn’t matter whether you’re spending only a few hours with your kids. What matters is the quality. You have to connect. You have to exchange values. You have to be in the same moment together. There’s no better way to record those extra precious moments than going to Localgrapher.

Localgrapher is an online platform of professional photographers in your area. Regardless of where you live in the US, Localgraphers is sure to connect you with the right photography experts that would make your bonding moments last forever. You only have 80-85 years to live.

Do yourself a big favor. Make all that time count and when it’s time, you can look through your pictures and you can say to yourself that you lived a full life. Believe me, very few people would be able to do that when the time comes.

Your wife can definitely appreciate the right post natal massage

Now a lot of guys are very busy when their kids get born in the world. If you are like the typical father, you are probably worried about the hospital bills, you’re worried about what happened before, during and after the pregnancy. Welcome to fatherhood.

Now here’s the bad news. Worrying can only take you so far. Believe me. When you worry, you’re kicking around all sorts of mental furniture. You are jousting with emotional windmills and it’s all happening in your mind and guess what? None of that matters because you need to take action. Worrying is a worthless substitute for action. I hope that much is clear.

If you want a great career, you need to work. You need to stop worrying. If you need better grades in school, you need to stop worrying and start studying. You need to start practicing how to take the exam. That’s how it works because the antidote to worry is action and if your wife is about to give birth, you need to plan ahead and do it.

Unfortunately, a lot of men are just really babies. They think that the world is about delivering pleasure to them and it’s all about “I, me, mine” It is no surprise that most boys hate their fathers. It’s easy to see why because they look at this man and he’s actually acting like a boy. Everything has to be about him, everything has to involve his pleasure or his enjoyment. Forget everybody else.

If a little boy sees that in his father, what kind of a man do you think he will turn out to be? Unfortunately, this is the case and this generational curse repeats itself over and over again. If you want to break this pattern, you need to roll up your sleeves, step up and be a man. You need to man up. How do you do this? By loving your wife.

Now this is not something that just involves words coming out of your mouth. Anybody can make those sounds. In fact, there are a lot of guys out there who do such a good job verbalizing these sounds and producing these emotions that they go from woman to woman having kids along the way. That’s not the kind of man you want to be. Instead, you want to be a real man. You want to be a person of respect.

Let me tell you, respect is earned. It is not some sort of door prize. You don’t show up and people call you dad. It doesn’t work that way. You have to first be a dad for you to be respected like one. How do you make this happen? Love your family.

Love is not a word. Instead, it’s a commitment. Even if it hurts, even if you lose stuff, even if it’s inconvenient, even if it’s painful, you still have to do it moment by moment, day after day, week after week, month after month. That’s the kind of truth I learned from my dad and guess what? My dad used to hit me. He used to discipline me and it’s not because he wanted to hurt me. It’s not because he just wanted to take out his frustrations in life and broken ambitions and dreams by beating me up. The pain was targeted because it is paired with a message.

The trade off was a little bit of pain now so I know the right path ahead of me or a lot of pain down the road because I wasted my life. My dad always gave me that choice. He always made that clear and when you love your wife, there’s going to be a lot of pain on your end because you’d rather be out there playing golf, you’d rather be out there hanging out with the boys, drinking a lot of beer.

But when you spend time with your wife and most importantly, do things like post natal massage, you communicate in so many ways. She is worthy. She is important enough. She is valuable enough. In other words, you’re building your relationship on a solid foundation of mutual respect that produces love, peace of mind and yes, happy children down the road. This is the foundation for a great society. This was true in the days of Confucius, this was true in the days of Jesus Christ, this was true in the days of Muhammad and it’s true today.

Be one of those quality men. Unfortunately, nobody can make that choice for you. You have to choose it yourself.

Use this website to find the very best beach tents for your next family outing

As the parent in the family, you have a lot of responsibilities on your shoulders. You probably have your hands full, you probably have many different duties, responsibilities and obligations that you are juggling up in the air. In fact, if you are the typical over stressed and over worked parent in the US, you’re probably thinking that this is too much, too soon and in some days, you want to hit the reboot button. If life was a computer, it would have a reset button.

Unfortunately, life is not a computer. This is not a game. This is not some sort of simulation. This will continue long after you’re gone. Welcome to the real world. Parenting, as you probably already know, is not easy. Your parents have probably been trying to tell you this in so many ways, but like a typical kid, you did not want to hear it. You don’t want to have any of it until you yourself became a parent.

Well, it’s not too late. You can step up to the tremendous amount of opportunities that parenting brings to the table. Yes, it is an opportunity. How come? Well you can become a better person. You can become a better planner, a better leader in your family, most importantly, you can become a better human being. Why? Responsibility brings out the best in us.

When we’re able to manage our resources, when we’re able to walk our talk, when we’re able to lead by example, we become better human beings. In other words, we become part of the solution instead of simply choosing to remain part of the problem.

Make no mistake about it. Until and unless you choose to become part of the solution, you will contribute to the problem. I know that sounds harsh. I know that sounds overly negative. But it’s also the truth. As the old saying goes, the truth will set you free. How many times have you heard that? Well, it’s absolutely true.

But guess what? The truth will often upset you first. It may anger you, it may make you sad, it may even depress you, but it will upset you first before it sets you free. So do yourself a big favor and understand that you have a tremendous amount of responsibility regardless of what your family does.

You might be thinking that you’re just going out on a family outing. You might be under the impression that any kind of beach tent will do. In fact, if you are a particularly lazy father, you might even be thinking that you don’t need a tent. You just put up a tarp or people can pretty much take care of themselves by extending their jackets over their head or doing something like that. Maybe you could tell people to head for the treeline.

But if you are the right dad who is worth respecting and who is a true leader and the man of your family, you would take matters into your own hands. You would step up and become a reasonable man. This doesn’t just mean that you’re going to be strong. This also means that you will earn your kid’s and you wife’s respect. How do you do this?

Well, you go to http://canopytentreviews.com/best-beach-tents. That’s the first step. You go to that website and you slice and dice the different offerings out there based on what your family actually needs. This is a tremendous opportunity for you because now you are given a chance to truly understand the needs of each and every one of your children. If you don’t know off hand, you can ask them. This gives you a tremendous opportunity to talk to your kids, figure out what’s important to them and guess what? Say to them and demonstrate to them in no uncertain terms how much you love them.

This goes a long way in becoming a better parent and most importantly, a better role model. You have to understand that society can only survive if parents have the right values. Values have to be lived out. There are too many parents who give sermons. They talk and talk but it’s really all a lie because they never walk their talk. They’re hypocrites, liars and the world is full of that.

Be part of the solution by doing the right research, lining up that research and those options with the needs of your kids and letting them know that they matter to you. They’re important enough for you to spend time on them and to sacrifice yourself, your creature comforts and your conveniences so they would have a better experience. That’s how you become a man in your family. Dad is just a title. Father is just a biological description. Being a real man means you earn that respect and trust.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen intellectually. This definitely doesn’t happen on auto pilot. You have to earn it moment by moment, second by second, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. You’re a dad now and you will die a dad. If you are interested in raising the environmental consciousness of your children, you have to start them off early. You have to understand that kids being kids love to throw stuff away, they love to be wasteful, they love to basically be abusive. If you are a very relaxed parent and you have a very carefree attitude as far as your kids go, don’t be surprised if they grow up to be environmentally irresponsible people.

They wouldn’t even know what a sustainable solution is until it bites them in the face. That’s how clueless they can be and this is due in no small part to your negligence. I don’t mean to sound harsh or judgmental, but I want to call a spade a spade. You drop the ball. You screwed up because your kids turned out this way.

The reason why the world is so messed up thanks to global warming is because of bad parenting. Now I don’t want to depress you or crush your ego, but I just want to give you a wake up call. All is not lost. Believe it or not, you can lead by example.

Let’s face it. A lot of parents, especially from very affluent households, talk a big game about green technology, green architecture and sustainable practices. In fact, they talk on and on until they are blue in the face and guess what, the kids are still wasteful, they’re still environmentally irresponsible. In fact, a lot of them develop political philosophies that are complete 180 degrees from their parents. What went wrong? Who dropped the ball? Why did things have to take this turn?

Well, it’s actually quite simple. You didn’t live out your sermons. You have to remember that kids are very impressionable. They are like wet cement. Whatever you say and do better be consistent otherwise they will pick up on the inconsistency and they will remember it for a long time to come. I wish I could tell you that the damage is limited to what they choose to remember. Well, it goes deeper than that.

If they see that you are a hypocrite that you say one thing and do another thing completely different, they will actually start copying you and the worst part is that they will use you as an excuse to keep doing wrong. I hope you can see where this is headed. I hope you can see why the hypocritical action is a bad idea.

The more they see this kind of behavior, the more they start looking at you as a person of integrity. They start associating you with a value system that actually practices what it preaches. What do you think they will do? 9 times out of 10, they would respect you and they would actually do what you tell them to do because they know that you’re all about environmental responsibility. They know that at many different levels and in so many ways, you walk your talk. In their mind, you are actually a person who is worth respecting.

Do yourself a big favor and step up to the responsibility of being a parent. Send the right signals. Walk your talk. Be consistent. Stop lying. Stop being a hypocrite. And stop being a jerk. Remember that the world is not about you. We’re all in this together. This is a collective effort. As the old cliché says, it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it’s true. It takes a planet to raise a people.
